In January 1999 Ian Ellison tackled the Enfield India Motorcycle Challenge, a sponsored motorcycle ride across part of Southern India raising money for Global Cancer Concern. This charity is building a palliative care centre for cancer victims in Southern India and Ian's ride was part of one of the fundraising efforts raising the £250,000 required for the project.

Through his hard work attracting SPONSORS, Ian was able to raise the sum of £3150.
